I’m Gregg Edwards Townsley, a member of the Western Writers of America, and the author of more than a half-dozen Western novels. East Jesus, Nevada, Lady of the Lake, The Pinkerton Years, and True Believer tell the stories of real people and places in the American West during the 1880s. The books are available online or can be ordered through your local bookstore.
In the mid-1980s and 1990s, I lived in Nevada. The ten years I spent in Carson City as a pastor and head of staff for one of the state’s oldest churches left me fascinated with everything western. This Philadelphia boy still isn’t much for horses–some of my characters aren’t either–but I can spin a Western story or six-gun faster than most people. You might even find me on “the line,” as they say in a quick draw contest. I’m a life member of the Cowboy Fast Draw Association. And I love shooting wax and blanks at electronically-timed targets with the World Fast Draw Association. That’s how much fun I’m having. You can have that kind of fun, too.
My books are about “real people, real places, the way the West was really won,” wrapped in stories I’ve written about the American West. Two Bears Books, our independent press, is committed to selling books that read that way. So you’ll learn a little bit of history when you read one of my books. Given that they’re novels, the discriminating reader will know when I’ve added a character to move things along. (In each of my books, the last chapter of the book tells you which is which and what is what.)
