Pain and more…
The last couple of days have been a bitch, so to speak. I’ve got tendonitus in my left achilles tendon and the same in my right elbow. Nancy wonders if it’s the way I’m standing in class–I’m teaching private martial arts lessons six or more hours a day now, all of it on my feet–I’m thinking it’s the fact that I’m not wearing shoes.
Not wearing shoes is cool, incidentally. I get in the studio around noon every day and the first thing I do is take off my shoes and put on a red or blue martial arts uniform. “I can’t wait to take off this girdle!” my mother used to say. Geez, the similarities are way too striking…
Anyway, one of my students is a massage therapist. He confirmed the diagnosis (duh) by having me lay down on one of the mats and touching the mustles and tendons–I “lit up” when he pressed on the achilles tendon–and suggested alternating between hot baths and icecubes. “Sure,” I said with most convincing look. “That’ll work.” Like I even know where the bathtub is in our house.
So I’m taking Ibuprofin. I figure that’s easier. But now that it’s raining, I’m hurting everywhere. Damned arthritis. Can’t imagine how Josh must feel or Lindsey for that matter.
I’m hoping to have a $1000 weekend at the martial arts studio–we really need it, to get the house bills paid and so on–and with back billing of about $3,000 we might actually get on top of things for a change. And once the ministry books are unpacked–I’m lightening the load at the same time, discarding some I can’t possibly deal with anymore while putting some (my counseling books, for instance) back in boxes–the upstairs den will be complete. I imagine we’ll finish the upstairs by Saturday night.
We can’t wait.
Will be cool to check out your upstairs. Sorry about the pain but at least the rain lightens the allergies (problem after problem, right?)? It does for me!
I remember the girdle comment very clearly. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
